Nanigans

Visual Designer 2013 – 2015

Nanigans AdEngine is the top choice of leading performance marketing teams around the world. Brands such as Electronic Arts, Zynga, and Supercell use AdEngine to manage and optimize their marketing campaigns, which are worth billions in ad spend. Lance's role was to assist the team in designing and building a suite of self-service tools for onboarding as the company transitioned into a SaaS platform. He worked directly with account managers and clients to produce a UX audit, user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity comps. The onboarding project was successful and was eventually rolled out to all customers.

Project Takeaways

Immerse yourself

Working in an unfamiliar domain can be both exciting and daunting. Lance approached this situation by engaging with local experts at Nanigans, taking notes on their work processes, their frustrations, and their wishlists for improvements.

UX audits work

When working with an existing platform, introducing improvements can be challenging. To address this, Lance conducted an audit of the platform's visual and interactive elements, creating a tangible library that allowed him to sit down with engineers and stakeholders for review.

Overcommunicate

When working remotely across different time zones, it's easy for things to get lost in translation. Lance addressed this issue by establishing a routine check-in with project managers and engineers through daily standups, end-of-day status updates, and occasional chats on Slack. This ensured that his messages were delivered on time and remained relevant.
